Swimming In Vintage Buttons, Lace, Pom Poms, and Paper

Yeish! Has it really been two weeks? I have been so busy! It all started a few weeks ago when I discovered I was almost out of vintage lace. I came close to panicking because vintage lace had been hard to come by in my area. But, boy oh boy was luck waiting for me. First, I went to a church fund raising garage sale that advertised to be the LARGEST GARAGE SALE IN THE WORLD! I'm not sure about that but, it was big. It was held in a old grocery store. There were THREE aisle of craft stuff. Yes three!! I did a quick run through and saw: vintage crepe paper, lace, baskets, flowers, old Church hats, wall paper sample books, and a lot of jewelry. I immediately went (ran!) and found a suitcase and filled it up.

The next weekend I went to an estate sale of what must have been the girlest lady ever( and a compulsive shopper). I found a small mountain of vintage, frilly, lacy, pink, creams, and white, slips and gowns. With....the....tags...still...on!!! And I got a ton of linens with crotchet roses.

And if that wasn't enough to put any girl in vintage heaven the next weekend I really hit the jack pot. I went to an estate sale that was out in the middle of nowhere. It was being held in a very old general store. I swear I think I heard angels singing when I walked in. Right in front of the door was a HUGE box of.........vintage pom pom trim in pink and white! It took a lot of self control not to scream. he he. This place was full to the rafters with old crafting supplies. Boxes of trim, lace, flowers, birds, and material. Even bird cages. I seriously looked around then said I take all the boxes of trim. There eyes got really big and they asked if I sewed a lot. I laughed and said" Heck no! Not even a button. " So they thought I was crazy. Especially when I drove away with a HUGE smile on my face.

So I have been storing all this stuff I had been buying in my studio. It was a giant mess. I reorganized it. It took 3 whole days.

And now to the end of my very long blog post. You know most of this is going in my ETSY shop!! I am truly having a blast putting all my vintage goodies together!

I also redid my booth and it looks so fabulous! I will post pics soon.

Meet Millie

Yippee! I finally found a girl of my own. A dress form mannequin that is. Which is NOT an easy feat in this....well...shall we say "behind the times" town. I found her in an antique mall. She was old but looked new. No grungyness or style. So I took some tips from Heather and created Millie from Paris. I paid $15.00 for her!!! I found the gorgeous pink millinery flower at "THE WORLDS LARGEST GARAGE SALE" I will tell you THAT story in my next post. You can read another dress form success story here. And please go read my Friend Lori's hilarious story about how she acquired one! I was so jealous! Do you have your own "girl"? Or maybe a sweet story about one? Tell me about it in my comments. I would LOVE to see how you dolled up your gal!

Trees

I have always LOVED trees. I think they are wonderful, majestic creatures. And there is so much we can learn from them. This poem sums up how I have always felt about trees.

Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,Must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,I have made this place around you.If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches are the same to Wren.If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows Where you are. You must let it find you.
