Meet Millie

Yippee! I finally found a girl of my own. A dress form mannequin that is. Which is NOT an easy feat in this....well...shall we say "behind the times" town. I found her in an antique mall. She was old but looked new. No grungyness or style. So I took some tips from Heather and created Millie from Paris. I paid $15.00 for her!!! I found the gorgeous pink millinery flower at "THE WORLDS LARGEST GARAGE SALE" I will tell you THAT story in my next post. You can read another dress form success story here. And please go read my Friend Lori's hilarious story about how she acquired one! I was so jealous! Do you have your own "girl"? Or maybe a sweet story about one? Tell me about it in my comments. I would LOVE to see how you dolled up your gal!

Trees

I have always LOVED trees. I think they are wonderful, majestic creatures. And there is so much we can learn from them. This poem sums up how I have always felt about trees.

Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,Must ask permission to know it and be known. The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,I have made this place around you.If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.No two trees are the same to Raven. No two branches are the same to Wren.If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows Where you are. You must let it find you.

OMG! I’m in a magazine!!!!

And its my FAVORITE magazine! Somerset Life. Months ago Somerset contacted me and asked if I would like to submit a kit. Of course I said yes and was so excited to have been "discovered". I REALLY have a hard time keeping secrets so this has been killing me. lol But, I wanted to wait until the magazine came out. I think I had ten panic attacks wondering what to send. Then a sweet, wise, friend told me to follow my heart and do what I love. So of course I made a kit with lace, glass glitter, bobbles, buttons, and more all tucked into a little nest. My color theme was aqua and chocolate. I am so thrilled to be in the same magazine as some very talented wonderful artist like Delila, Jenny, Andrea, Cari, Rebecca, and Heather. It really is a beautiful magazine! I feel so lucky to be in it.

Postcards

I just thought I would share some pics I took today. I had a stack of vintage postcards sitting in my studio and got inspired to photograph them. I so passionately love old paper, stamps, and handwriting. I love how the word postcard is different on each one. Is anyone else obsessed about postcards too?

Wall art and Shopping

Well this last week was spring break here. I got a LOT less done than I had planned. My 2 stepsons where with us for the week. Its really hard to get anything done with 3 boys around. But I did get to go visit family, go shopping, we planted two trees, started a veggie garden, and I made some beautiful wall art. I cut down a french door, painted it, then put antique papers behind it. Its on the wall above my kitchen table. I just LOVE it. I also FINALLY found a hat with millinery flowers. yay! My mom gave me some fresh eggs from her chickens. I had to take a picture. I just love fresh eggs. I would love to have some chickens but that's where hubby draws the line. lol I will have to wait until we move to the country someday.

Spring has Sprung!

It seems spring has sprung around here. And I am SOOO happy to see it. I can't wait to plant some tomatoes and peppers in my garden. I plan to make some new flower beds in my front yard as well. So much to do so little time. I will leave you with some colorful pictures of years past and hope everyone is enjoying a lovely spring beginning.

DESTASH sale!

I spent the whole weekend de-cluttering my house! I could not believe all the "craft" stuff I had accumulated. I never throw anything away. It was really hard but I divided a lot of my stash up and I will be listing it on Etsy in the next week. So grab it before I change my mind. lol I will also be listing some new tags that I just LOVE!

Birdy it's COOOLD outside!

I just can't believe all the snow we have gotten this winter. For some reason the birds get hyper when its cold and icy. Today I made myself be still by the windows so I could get a few pics of my feathered friends. They are just soooo cute when they are all puffed up!

Some shop news:
I have not been listing new items in the last few days and will not list any for awhile. I have been hard at work making new things and cleaning my house. lol So stay tuned for some great new items.

The Woods!

I finally got to lose myself in the sweet sounds of the forest. Then we got lost literally in the Lost Pines of Texas. Ha Ha NOW we can laugh about it. It was absolutely gorgeous! Moss, birds, a lake, awesome antique shops, flowers, my little and big best Friends (scrappy-doo and hubby), smores, camp fire, and starry skies. I feel refreshed and renewed! Here at home we have been having wildfires and dust storms. Ohh...my...sinuses.... I'm ready to go back!

New Items in Shop

First of all thank you so much to all the sweet birthday wishes. I had a very lovely birthday. My hubby cooked out and my son-the best helper ever-and I made a little bird sancutary. We put a fountian, cute gazebo bird feeder, and a lot of other bird friendly stuff outside our living room window. I just LOVE it. One morining blue jays, a woodpecker, robin, and red birds were all at the fountin at once! As soon as the birds get used to me I am sure I will post a galzilaion pictures of them.

I have been dreaming of spring and lots of colors so I wanted to put it into my work. I have some new paper packs in my shop. The antique paper really is gorgeous. I LOVE it but I am running out of room! So I am de-stashing. I also made some mini comp journals. I just love these. I am such a scatter brain that I have to write EVERYTHING down. I keep one in my purse and one by the bed, and one by my desk.
