This months Papertrey Ink blog hop challenge was to post your favorite project of 2011. Then to use that project as inspiration and make something else.
This is one of my favorite cards of the year. You can find that Make it Monday post HERE. What I love about it is all the layers, soft colors, and tarnished silver glitter.
This is the card I made after being inspired from the first one. I think I like it even better!
I thought I would share a little on the process of how I make a card. I have read on forums and other places that some people have a little trouble incorporating pattered paper. I use it as the beginning inspiration. It is the first thing I choose. The rest of the project forms around it. For both of these cards I had many layers that needed to fit together perfectly. The colors also need to work right with each other. What I do is stack the paper up with each one showing until I get the color compo I want. Then I lay each die on top so I don't get them mixed up. I have a Big Shot pro so I usually cut them all out at the same time.
I like the idea of using my own card as a starting point so much I made this. I took down everything from my Inspiration board and added wire. I then hung my favorite cards of the moment. I have already used it several times.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy blog hopping.

Love all the colors and textures. The butterfly is so pretty!
I just love all the layers and both cards are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your process.
What beautiful cards. The layers of butterflies gives a totally different feel than the glittered one. Super case!
Oh both cards are beautiful!
Great 'punch up' of the original card! They're both beautiful.
Love both your cards but I like the deeper colors in the second card better.
Beautiful. So many layers. they go together well. Thanks for the tip of starting with the Pattern paper first. Makes sense.
love your embossing!
Both cards have such a great feel with the multi-layers. I really love the second one and the patterned paper used to cut the butterfly is such a great idea.
I have a ribbon strung on the wall of my craft room for the same purpose - your board is beautiful!
I love both cards, I love all the layers, and the details. That ruler embossing is so cool!
What an amazing card, Brandy! I just love that ruler embossing!! Your butterfly looks ready to take flight, such a cool design. The colors on this are positively dreamy!
Absolutely GORGEOUS cards!!!
What a wonderful card! The texture and layering are superb!
You're right, I like the second one even better, too! I love that neat ruler embossing folder (gotta get that!) and your color choices. Your inspiration board looks like its straight from Pinterest...awesome!
Well I love them both! They remind me of the Claritin commercial. The person first appears sort of soft & blurred out which is how the first card looks, only it's not blurred out just soft. Then after taking Claritin the layers peel back and reveals the person in living color-that's like your second card. Very pretty cards:)
Great Card - I usually like clean and simple cards, but this is just so well done - the colors and patterns and shapes - everything is perfect. And you're totally making me want the oval dies :
Brandy these are both out of this world. I love EVERYTHING about them!
beautiful cards. love the color and texture.
Beautiful , both of them. I love the way you used that embossed ruler. I need that! :) thanks for showing how it was done.
Beautiful cards! The butterfly on the newest one is stunning. I like how you have displayed your cards on the wire too.
Lovin the layers and patterned papers.
Oh my, Brandy! Wouldn't think you could improve on the 2011 project, but I am loving the ruler impression as well as all of the other great layers!
Love the card with the measuring tape. Super cute.
