Tool Tuesday-Zutter Bind-It-All

Today I"m going to review the Zutter Bind-it-All. Once again the color grabbed my attention. Who doesn't love pretty tools? It also has an aqua case you can buy separate. Eek pink and aqua my favorite! You buy the spirals separate also and they come in a variety of sizes and colors. The Bind-it-all runs for about $70.00. I once again used the online 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby. I love what this product can do. It makes books, notebooks, scrapbooks, journals, and more. My very favorite thing about it is I can use the oodles and oodles of ephemera I have to make one of a kind books. I have used vintage postcards, antique cabinet card mats, and old book covers. I have seen books made by using food packaging! You could turn your kiddos favorite cereal into a cool notebook for them. What a great way to recycle! So what don't I like? Well, maybe I'm just a dork but I cant always get all the holes lined up right, and for some reason I always forget the order the pages go before you bind it. Ex: the front page goes on the back turned inward..blah...blah... I always get my husband to do it. He's much more patient than me. So all in all its a pretty cool tool. However I have noticed several more tools that seem to do the same thing have came out. You might research those before you purchase the Zutter Bind-it-all. If you like a different binding tool better I would love to here about it!

Thanks for your review. I am in doubt for over two months to buy this tool or not. I have to add that this tool is 70 euros over here (98 USD) and such thing as a coupon system doesn't exist over here. On the other hand I have so much ephemera that I could easily make journals and sell them. What do you think? Would you have paid 98 usd for this tool too, now that you know it, in stead of the 42 I figured out you did? Thanks!

This makes me feel better! I LOVE what this tool does - but I have never found it to be user friendly. Way too easy to make mistakes with hole placement. The Bind-it-All group on Yahoo does have some helpful files/instructions.

FYI - if anyone is thinking of getting the companion "DreamKutz" that cuts paper in half - skip it! I HATE that machine. It will only cut to a few specific sizes and it doesn't cut nice and even unless you only cut a few pages and hold them just right.

Thanks for your review on this Brandi. If you find a binding machine that you love, I'd love to hear about it as I've been looking.

Thanks for taking the time to review. I have been looking for an easy to use binding machine. Fun to give one-of-a-kind journals as gifts, and gosh, who doesn't have tons of paper these days!!

Oh gosh another gadget. It looks a little quicker than an exacto knife. Love that color! Thanks for the research. Your blog is great.

Thanks for the review but I am wondering what other binding machines have you found? I would love to find one to make my hard bound journals with but so far I haven't decided if this one is good enough and can't afford to buy one of the industrial ones.

Brandy - you are not a dork! I have the same problem lining the holes up and remembering the order the pages are supposed to be in. But it's still a pretty cool tool.

Phew...!! & there's me thinking I am a right thick-o...! the 'whole line up the whole thingy...' drove me mad!!!
I made lots & lots of mistakes, lost a bit of confidence, & then..., a friend told me that she makes a cardboard template when she makes her journals... it works!! great top eh..?
