Need Help!

My Valentine give away is coming soon! I just keep adding more and more to it! Ok so this is what I need help with: ribbon and lace. I have blogged about my lace obsession before here, here, here, and here. I have sold it on tags, in kits, in boxes, and bags. I am doing a deep clean and organization on my studio. My studio has looked clean and organized but in drawers and boxes chaos reined. Right now I am organizing trim. I'm taking it off spools and putting into individual baggies. Then I'm going store it by color. More on that later. The thing is after seeing all my trim in one place I KNOW I could never use it all. I have spent two FULL days sorting it and I'm still not done. I have boxes and boxes of tangled lace I need to sell. So I'm asking you dear friends. What is the best way to sell ribbon and lace? Should I shove it all in a box and say here you go? Or should I take the time to sort it by color etc and wind it onto cards? Or maybe even do this again? I'm willing to mark it cheap to sell it fast! Heck I will even give some away! If you comment on this post by Friday January 14Th I will put you in a drawing to win a big bag of lace. Tell me all your great ideas!

I say wind a variety on cardboard, and then sell!

Oh and how do you stay so organized? Lol Your shelves are so neat and orderly. Love the pictures. :)

Sorry to post 3x
I forgot to leave my .02 on how to sell your lace! I would sell 5 ~ 1 yard pieces as a lot for each listing. :)

I agree, I would divide it into lots. What you could do is offer X # of yards for a price, but put in the description that more is available. If you don't precut it and someone wants a larger amount, you would be able to give them a continuous piece.

Absolutely - divide it into lots and let it go(see it)! How fun to purchase a box full of treasures to sort through and play with!

Love your shelves! I'm one of those organized types and seeing your lovely shelves filled to the brim goes straight for my heart! =0)

I like to see lace bundled by color or even different colors of the same size lace. I make plush dolls and am always looking for lace. Would be thrilled to win some!

I am a big fan of grab bags, I love suprises. I think you should sell different sized/priced grab bags with all sorts of styles and sizes. I know that they sell like crazy!

I say, organize it by color, but don't worry about winding it all nicely. People love digging through things. Good luck. xxoo Valarie

Oh lace!!! love it. For something easy I say just offer it in lots. You could do lots of different colors and some with mixed colors. I love pink, light blue, and mint green combo. Tags with color coordinated laces is nice too, but time consuming.

I'd say that if you want to fetch a good price, offer it in set lengths, and cut and wind onto a card. If, however, you're just keen to destash split it into grab bags and sell as mystery inspiration - lots of fun for the receiver!
Thanks for the chance to win some!

I'd love to win some! I'm just starting to sew and also run a vintage shop on etsy as Addy.

I think the best way to get rid of it quickly though is like the etsy destash you linked that sold in October 2010. I guess it depends on how much you have though.

If you really just want to unload it quick and cheap, throw it in a box and say "here you go". Your etsy Destash listing would be perfect. You have to decide if you really want to spend the time detangling and wrapping on cards to sell...although you could probably get a better price with it nicely organized by color or type. I'm trying to clean up my room, and I know I have more stuff than I will ever use in my lifetime. (So why do I keep buying more stuff?) Good luck.

I too agree to sell in lots for best price or put it in a lot and let it go --either way I'm sure it will be beautiful!

I would happily take it off of your hands! :) I love the trim assortments that you put together, but I also like bags of destash. I love it no matter how you put it is what I'm sayin'. ;)

I think grab bags are fun and a fast way to purge!! You could probably get more money if you offer it on a pretty tag by the yard. Looks Fun either way! I have plenty of my own I need to purge as well!

i honestly would like to be able to tell you what is good to sort and organize, but i cannot. if i could i would MAYBE do it myself. at this moment i cannot find the items i need to start a great project for gifts and i cannot locate them. i waste alot of time looking and it makes me want to cry as it is so frustrating when not found. i am the only one to blame for not being more organized. i haven't enthused for the longest time to create and i am really ready to start. good luck with all your organizing the ribbons and lace. Bestest,Denise

Wow-I love lace too, can't wait to see what's up in your Etsy shop. I have to agree with the others who are saying split it up into lots and sell it as grab bags. Good luck!

Love all this vintage lace... I think that the easiest way is to create grab bags again. No fancy packaging, just lace!
Good luck!

Color coordinated grab bags. If you wanted, you could include a couple of specially designed Brandywine Designs ribbon cards that people could lace the ribbon on themselves if they wished.

I say do a box of trims as a destash and do some of your pretty trim cards because they are always so special. That way you will feel less overwhelmed when you sell the box but will still have the pretties in your shop also.... I would Love to win this! karen.....
